Chamomile Tea: Relax and Unwind

Chamomile tea is perhaps one of the best-known herbal teas for inducing relaxation, and rightly so. This tea is brewed from the dried flowers of the chamomile plant and has been used over centuries as a home remedy to calm the mind and reduce stress levels in order to sleep well.

One of the active advantages of chamomile tea is that it provides better sleep. Antioxidants present in chamomile, such as apigenin, can bind to GABA receptors in the brain, thereby promoting less insomnia and improvements in sleep quality. Most people associate chamomile with nighttime routines and, thus, like to drink a cup of it before going off to bed, relaxing themselves before they fall asleep.

Apart from inducing sleep, chamomile tea helps overcome anxiety. The soothing nature of chamomile calms down the nervous system; hence, it is considered helpful for the person who experiences stress or anxiety. Having this warm cup during a busy or stressful day helps to bring in relaxation.

Chamomile tea is also renowned for its digestive benefits. It alleviates indigestion and bloating among other upsets in the digestive system; hence, it is commendable after meals. The anti-inflammatory properties in chamomile help in relaxing the muscles in the digestive tract, thus reducing spasms and discomfort.

Whether one wants to relax after an exhaustive day, wants to sleep better, or would want a soothing hot drink, chamomile tea is a natural and effective way to unwind and bring balance to your mind and body.
